    Australia's recreational drone safety rules are designed to keep you and others safe, on the ground and in the air.

    There is no age limit to fly a drone for fun. You also do not need a licence or operator accreditation.

    You do not need to register your drone when you fly for fun, including micro drones under 250 g. If your drone weighs more than 25 kg, you must get an approval to fly it.

    You must follow the drone safety rules. These rules apply everywhere in Australia. The drone safety rules simplify the regulations from Part 101 of the Civil Aviation Safety Regulations.

    If you want to fly for fun in a place or way that is outside the drone safety rules, like a restricted area, you can apply for a flight authorisation.
